Creative Teaching – Foreword
In the national as well as international scope, for a few decades now, the field of formal education faces a profound question which shakes the very foundation of its heretofore known structure.
At this very crossroad, not only has a war been declared to the school system but also it has received a sort of death sentence. As there is plenty of sound reasoning behind this expositions and furthermore they arise from experts in the field of education or related fields it seems very much perilous to remain unmoved by this observations since that would be equivalent to our indifferently witnessing the extinction of evolution.
The evolution of organisms is merely one aspect of a process that moves forward inexorably with the impetus of a profound and interdependent spiritual force. The human ability to adequately capture the global context of such phenomenon is what allows us to go beyond the limitations of dogmatic conceptions which had previously obscured our understanding of a luminous threshold to an open vast ocean which lies along the side of a path that may ultimately lead us to the conquest of the universe. What a fascinating expectation!
It is only fair to acknowledge that in Costa Rica our educational system has experienced notable improvement. For example it has elitist qualities intellectually, we have improved the availability of competent personnel as well as other resources, didactic methods, etc. None the less it needs significant transformations if it is to respond to the multiple dimensions of actual needs of our society today.
This book contains a proposition that can significantly contribute to the solution of great problems affecting our society. First we can carefully examine the history of our society to obtain some perspective and then we can reflect in order to determine what the greatest needs have been over the last century. Within this comprehensive frame of reference we can engrave the elaboration of a teaching curriculum which will cover up to the High School level inclusive.
Furthermore the proposed organized curriculum has for its essence a cultural concept which is a synthesis of a threefold, equilibrated effort which helps to develop the intellect, the moral character and the personality dynamics of the individual with the final aim of benefiting the collective well being of the entire society.
